Q Description The goal of this assignment is to encourage students to think very clearly about their understanding of the gospel, how it informs their lives, and how the business profession relates to God’s redemptive plan. In a thoughtful and well written paper, students are to compose their essays according to these headings: • A Brief Summary of the Gospel—Students will articulate their understanding of the gospel. These statements must be informed by Scriptural passages (especially Acts!), summarizing (but not quoting) the theology of specific biblical references. Scripture references are to be placed in parentheses. [Caution: This question is not asking about the gospels (plural). Instead you are asked to provide a brief summary of "the Gospel" (singular) - the "good news" that was spread by the early church.] • My Testimony—Students are to summarize their own testimony of how this gospel has impacted their lives, both when they were initially converted and how it continues to inform their journeys since. • Applications to Business—In the remainder of the paper, students will identify and summarize what they consider to be the most significant insights regarding the application of the themes of this course to the business profession. Students must refer at least three times to each of the required texts (by Larkin, Dickson, Van Duzer, and Rundle & Steffen). Parameters • Papers will be 6-10 pages, double-spaced, using proper grammar in complete sentences. • The font size may be 11 or 12 (no smaller or larger). • Students must root their statements in specific passages in Acts (in parentheses). If necessary to fill in theological gaps, other biblical passages can be cited. But Scripture should not be quoted—merely summarized in one’s own wording. • This paper is to be structured neatly, with clear headings and sub-headings, and arranged according to the outline provided above. • Students must indicate on their paper that they have not looked at nor utilized any other student’s paper or any source not clearly identified in footnotes (including the internet!)
